Q: When creating my design, what dimensions should I work with?
A: Each card and/or card holder has different specifications. Each template provides you with the dimensions you should work with.
Q: What is the standard gift card size?
A: Standard (CR 80) gift card size is 3 3/8" width x 2 1/8" (height) x 0.030 mil (thickness). The card's dimensions are the same as a standard credit card.
Q: How should artwork and/or data be submitted?
A: We can accept your files on a floppy disk (data only), zip disk (PC and MAC), CD-R or email (Maximum 10MB. We also have an upload utility via our web site located at www.plasticresource.com/artdept/ that can be used for file transfers. Note: New users must register with the system before using for the first time.
Q: What types of electronic format do you accept for artwork?
A: We currently accept digital files (300 DPI recommended) for both the Mac and PC platforms created with any of the following programs:
- Quark Express version 5.0 or lower
- Adobe Photoshop CS (PC) or v.7 (MAC) or lower
- Adobe Illustrator CS 9.0 (MAC or PC) or lower
- Macromedia Freehand version 8.0
- Adobe PageMaker version 7.0 or lower
- Corel Draw 12.0 (PC Only)
- In Design 2.0 (MAC or PC)
- All high resolution (300 DPI recommended) EPS, TIFF and Vector Images
Q: Do I need to send fonts with the artwork?
A: Yes. In addition, you should also convert all text objects to outlines whenever possible prior to sending us your final artwork. See
"PRI Graphic Requirements" for details.
Q: How long does it take to generate a proof?
A: After artwork has been submitted and approved, an electronic proof will be generated and sent via email within 3-5 business days. Color proofs and color keys are also available for an additional fee.
Q: What is the turn-around time for completing my order?
A: Once your proof has been approved and signed-off on, production requires approximately 15 business days + shipping to complete and send your order.
Q: What is the minimum number of card and/or carriers I can order?
A: An initial order 500 standard cards or carriers and 1,000 custom cards is required to start the program.
Q: How well will a pre-press proof match what I see on my monitor?
A: Due to the wide differences in monitor calibration and equipment being used, printed colors in your proof may not be an exact match to those colors displayed on your monitor.
Q: What are color separations?
A: Color separation refers to the breaking down of any full-color image into the four basic ink colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) used in printing.
Q: Can I have variable data printed directly on the card carrier?
A: Yes. Please contact your sales representative for pricing details.
Q: Can PRI attach the cards to the holders/carriers for me?
A: PRI does offer card affixing for an additional cost. Please contact your sales representative for pricing details.
Q: Can you make holders/carriers in shapes other than those shown in the samples provided?
A: Yes, our Art Department will work directly with you when creating a custom holder/carrier. There is a one time charge for creating the die-cut and there may be limitations on the type of shape trying to be achieved.
